چکیده

CP violation is implemented in the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics via a non-trivial phase in the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskava matrix 1. Dedicated experiments and facilities have been built to check the predictions of the SM for CP violation, e.g. in the Kaon or the B meson sectors. Up to now, no significant deviations have been found. However, the CP violation implemented in the SM is insufficient to explain the baryon-antibaryon asymmetry observed in the Universe 2. Therefore, new sources of CP violation are searched for in various systems. The neutron is well-suited to search for CP violation beyond the SM. The influence of the SM CP violation is so tiny that it will hardly ever be observed, whereas several scenarios beyond the SM permit observable effects. These effects can be searched for in properties of the neutron, namely in its electric dipole moment (EDM), or in triple correlations between the decay products. CP or T (time reversal) violation would become manifest in deviations of these values from 0. Therefore these effects would have an unambiguous experimental signature.

Testing T Invariance in the Interaction of Slow Neutrons with Aligned Nuclei

The study of five-fold (P even, T odd) correlation in the interaction of slow polarized neutrons with aligned nuclei is a possible way of testing the time reversal invariance due to the expected enhancement of T violating effects in compound resonances. Possible nuclear targets are discussed which can be aligned both dynamically as well as by the ”brute force” method at low temperature. A stati...

Prospects for time reversal invariance studies with the use of five-fold correlation

Advantages of investigation of time reversal invariance violation with the use of three-fold (P,T-odd) and five-fold (P-even,T-odd) correlations in the interaction of resonance neutrons with nuclei are briefly considered. Possible enhancements of T-odd effects in both cases are discussed. It is shown that the study of five-fold correlation is a perspective way to test time reversal invariance. ...

Studies with Ultra-cold and Cold Neutrons

The experimental search for neutron electric dipole moment (EDM-experiment) is considered to be one of the crucial experiments in physics as it should explain the nature of violation in relation to time reversal. In practically every work concerning T-violation, possible effects are estimated basing on normalization to the upper limit of neutron EDM. So far it has been the most sensitive method...

Testing Supersymmetry in Weak Decays by Means of Time Reversal Invariance

The minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model allows for some of the coupling strengths to be complex parameters. The presence of such imaginary phases can lead to violations of time reversal invariance, which can be tested if correlations in products of an odd number of polarizations and momenta are measured and found to be different from zero. As an example, we consider the tripl...
